Eric Pickney

Sr. Director of Enterprise Risk Management/Information Security Officer, Sonora Quest Laboratories

Eric Pickney is a skilled professional with over thirty years’ experience in healthcare.  He currently serves as the Senior Director of Enterprise Risk Management and Information Security Officer for Sonora Quest Laboratories, LLC (SQL) a joint venture between Quest Diagnostics (a Fortune 500 company) and Banner Health (the largest non-secular health delivery system in the U.S.) and for Laboratory Sciences of Arizona, LLC (LSA) which manages the Banner Health hospital and academic medical center laboratories.

Eric performs strategic planning and implementation for Compliance & Ethics, Information Governance, Information Security, Patient Privacy, and Health Information Management Services (HIMS). His leadership spans across one of the largest integrated laboratory networks in the nation managing system risk for clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services in 28 hospital labs (including 2 academic medical centers, 2 children’s hospitals, and two cancer centers), commercial laboratories, rapid response labs, and numerous specialty stat lab locations. Eric’s greatest accomplishment is the development of a risk-based Information Governance program that combines his knowledge of Privacy and Security with a strong education-based approach that empowers employees to make the best choices when managing patient information and organizational data assets.

Eric holds a Master of Legal Studies from Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law at ASU and his undergraduate studies focused on leadership and social responsibility.  Eric is the Sonora Quest Laboratories liaison with the Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation (SARSEF); where his commitment to empowering others through education builds a foundation of future scientists, engineers, and critical thinkers.
