
Cindy Bujanda
Manager of High School Programs
Cindy is the Manager of High School Programs at SARSEF. In this role, she manages STAR Lab, Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, and high school outreach.
Cindy is a Sonoran-Arizona Desert native, and she grew up on the Sonoran side of the border. She attended the University of Sonora, where she completed her Bachelor’s in Biology with an emphasis in Biotechnology. She later continued pursuing her education at the University of Arizona, where she got her master’s in applied bioscience focusing on industrial microbial biotechnology. She has professional experience as a microbiologist in a clinical lab setting and in microbiology research labs. She is passionate about communicating science and making science accessible to all.
Cindy’s passion for scientific inquiry and education flourished as she was working on her master’s degree as a grad assistant for the Biotech Project. She was first introduced to SARSEF in 2019 when she served as a mentor for Star Lab. Her teaching experience is diverse in formal and informal educational settings, including teaching Biotech at Sunnyside High School, and ESL to students of all ages in Hermosillo, Sonora. She guided students through real research experiences, competing at science fairs, JSHS, and ISEF.
